Newest Member of the Family

Sorry I’ve been MIA the past little bit. Life has gotten crazy at my house. There’s the matter of the newest member of our family, but first an update on reading. I’ve got a job ghostwriting a book that’s eaten up all my writing time and a lot of my reading time.

Queens of Geek for Life

If you’re on instagram like me, I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde floating around. It’s been listed on many ‘most anticipate’ and  ‘must have’ lists from both readers and publishers. So, of course I had to pick it up when I was at Barnes and Noble the other day. All I knew about it was that it was supposed to be very diverse and very fangirl. I read it in less than three hours. It’s not a long book, but still. That’s quick. I loved it! And here’s why!

My most recent book purchase!

Anime Oasis Planning 2017

Hey friends, I’ve been posting a ton of bookish content so I figured I’d mix it up with something a bit different. The anime convention Anime Oasis is coming up at the end of the month! It’s located in Boise, so it’s a bit out of my way, but still one of the closest conventions. You can find out more about Anime Oasis here.

Mailbox Monday May 1st

Hey friends! I don’t usually do Mailbox Monday because I don’t buy a ton of books, BUT I am a huge library fan, so I might start doing a library day update when I go. But anyway, Saturday was Indie Bookstore day and I did a Bookstore crawl with some friends. I figured today was a good day to do it! Originally, Mailbox Monday is found here. I found it on The Book Filled Day! Without further ado, here is all the awesome stuff I got!

Hay House Writer’s Workshop

Sorry I’ve been gone for so long! I traveled to Las Vegas for a Writer’s Workshop and I was busier than I anticipated. I’m going to give you a day by day so it’s not too overwhelming. Unfortunately, I didn’t take pictures. I was too busy taking in the sights!

We traveled down to Vegas from Northern Utah. It was a great day for the drive. We made it to St. George where we stopped at Barnes and Noble. We were in the car for over 4 hours so it was nice to take a break. I held myself to two books and I ended up with a couple manga. I’ve read through them both over the weekend and heartily enjoyed them. I won’t do a full review but I might do a summary of them both.  We made it to Las Vegas fairly early. We stayed at Excalibur which was fun. Unfortunately, the pools hours were from 10-5. So, we didn’t get to swim at all. That night we did a little shopping and had a yummy dinner.

Books that I purchased on my trip to Las Vegas for the Writer's Conference.

Jeff Zentner Book Signing!

A few months ago, my friend and I were looking up author events at a (somewhat) local bookstore. She was so excited when she found out Jeff Zentner was coming and I had no idea who he was. (I’m so ashamed!) She told me about The Serpent King and HIGHLY recommended it. I looked it up but my library didn’t have it. So, I put it off, until last week I had a moment of panic when she reminded me about the event. The library still didn’t have it, so I just gave in and ordered it. But of course, I didn’t start reading it until Sunday afternoon and the event was Monday night. Good job, me… But it was amazing! I’ll have a review up later this week, but definitely a 5 out of 5! So off we went to Jeff Zentner’s book signing!

6 Ideas for a Nerdy Valentine’s Day

So, being married I do celebrate Valentine’s Day somewhat religiously. I love Chris, A LOT! *cue groans* And there are lots of places that talk about Gal-entine’s Day so I’m not going to go there. I will however give you, my dear friends, some ideas for a more geeky/nerdy Valentine’s day. This is for those of you who aren’t wanting the fancy dinner at the crowded, overpriced restaurant.

6 fun ideas to help you have a fun Valentine's Day without the cheese.
